A Case Study in Dismantling and Demolition
The project began with the careful rigging and dismantling of the steel canopy protecting the 5,000-gallon fuel tank. After removing the canopy and structural supports, the team safely rigged and transported the tank to a federally approved recycling center, fully complying with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Next, the team demolished a concrete knee wall using an excavator equipped with a hammer, while a skid steer efficiently loaded debris into containers for recycling. This phase was executed with precision to minimize site disruption and prioritize worker safety.
The Crane Lift A pivotal element of the project was the crane lift for the canopy. The operation followed a comprehensive lift plan that ensured both safety and efficiency throughout.
Crane Used: National 18127 crane
Configuration: Main boom set at 79' with a 54° angle; base fully secured with 100% extended outriggers and full counterweight
Lift Details: Operating at a 45' radius with a capacity of 10,400 lbs
Load: Total load, including canopy, block, and rigging, was 5,340 lbs
Analysis of the lift plan confirmed this was a standard lift, as the load represented 51% of the crane's capacity at the given radius, well within safe limits for a critical lift. This careful planning and execution were key to the project's overall success.
Finally, the site was prepared for the installation of two new fuel tanks, now powering the generators. Every step, from rigging and dismantling to demolition and installation, was performed systematically, with secure attachment points, thorough load verification, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
In summary, this project demonstrates how combining expertise in rigging, dismantling, demolition, and installation delivers reliable power infrastructure while prioritizing safety and compliance.
